Dear DIS Members,

The past few months have been very busy. Time has flown and we have successfully managed to further strengthen the DIS team.

I am very pleased to announce that Thomas Klich has joined the DIS team as Deputy Secretary General. Some of you may already know him from his previous engagement with the DIS between 2007 and 2014. I am delighted to have him back at the DIS. His main focus will be on business development, sports arbitration and ADR.

I am also pleased to announce that our Head of Case Management, Chun-Kyung Paulus Suh, has been promoted to Deputy Secretary General. Please join me in congratulating him on his new position with the DIS.

Finally, Mariana Candido de Oliveira Monteiro has joined the DIS as Counsel. Mariana is originally from Brazil and speaks fluently German, English and Portuguese. As you can see, the DIS Secretariat is truly international!

We are also successfully reviving our Berlin office. Two members of the DIS team have recently moved from Bonn to Berlin. More colleagues will be starting there in the coming weeks, so that DIS will be represented in Berlin by a strong team of around eight people.

In addition to strengthing the DIS team, I have been travelling a lot. I met various colleagues from the Brazilian arbitration community in Saõ Paulo and had the honour of visiting the Federal Minister of Justice, Marco Buschmann, in his office in Berlin. Read more about it in the sections below.

Warm regards

Ramona Schardt
