The "Asian and German Perspectives on Post M&A Disputes" conference, held in Singapore on 22 February 2024, was a great success with over 70 participants from around the world.

Organized by DIS with support from the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and hosted by Rajah & Tann Asia, the conference fostered exchange between German and Asian perspectives on post-M&A disputes as part of our commitment to arbitration and understanding international legal cultures.

Vanina Sucharitkul, FCIArb (Rajah & Tann Singapore) provided insights into the M&A landscape in Singapore and Asia. Board member Richard Happ (Luther, Hamburg) outlined DIS's role and significance in arbitration for post-M&A disputes. Vakho Giorgadze from SIAC shared experiences with such disputes in Asia, highlighting the growing relevance of arbitration.

The panel discussion, moderated by Jan K. Schaefer (King & Spalding, Frankfurt), another DIS board member, featured experts like Alessa Pang (WongPartnership, Singapore), Avinash Pradhan (Rajah & Tann, Singapore), Ramesh Selvaraj (Allen & Gledhill, Singapore), and Johanna Wirth (Hengeler Mueller, Berlin), discussing challenges and strategic considerations in post-M&A arbitration and triggering a lively debate among the audience.

We thank Rajah & Tann for their hospitality and SIAC for supporting this event. The exchange between legal cultures enhances our understanding and promotes more effective dispute resolution in cross-border transactions.

Richard Happ
