DIS40 Rhein-Ruhr: In the Mind of Arbitrators

DIS40-Event

Decision making in arbitral proceedings is not only based on factual and legal arguments. Any judgement by human beings will be affected by additional (external) factors such as intuitive perceptions, unconscious or even conscious biases and personal values and preferences. In this context, the question also arises in what way the approach and the behaviour of the parties and their counsel impacts the decision making process. These interdependencies are often neglected as they are difficult to measure even though they should be part of the tactical considerations.

We will discuss these influences on decision making with Rory Wheeler from Rory Legal (Paris) who has worked as a practitioner in international arbitration for more than 10 years and regularly publishes newsletters on decision science applied to the legal (arbitration) world.

The event will be moderated by Jennifer Bryant from Noerr (Düsseldorf) and will be followed by networking drinks.
