Dear members, colleagues and friends,

Spring always feels like a time of fresh energy and new beginnings – and this year there is a lot happening at the DIS.

We have just published our latest statistics, and I am particularly pleased that 2025 was a record year for the DIS: with 218 new cases, we registered more proceedings than ever before in our history. For me, this is above all a strong sign of the confidence that users place in the DIS and in arbitration under the DIS Rules. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributes to this trust – our users, arbitrators, and the entire arbitration community.

This spring also marks the beginning of a new chapter for the DIS Arbitration Council. After several founding members reached the end of their terms, a newly elected Council has taken up its work. I am particularly pleased about its diverse and strongly international composition, including a number of in-house counsel who bring valuable practical perspectives. I very much look forward to working together with the new Council members.

Another development close to my heart is the continued growth of our Berlin office. We are currently expanding our premises expanding our premises to double their size, reflecting how much our Berlin team has grown in recent years. The office now counts 15 colleagues, and I have also recently relocated my own seat to Berlin, from where I will lead the DIS going forward. Berlin is an important location for the DIS – as Germany’s capital and close to the political sphere, it offers many opportunities for us to strengthen the role and visibility of arbitration.

With so many positive developments, I am very much looking forward to the coming months – and especially to seeing many of you again at our DIS Spring Conference in May in Leipzig.

All the Best,

Ramona
