The Cologne/Bonn Regional Group of the Federal Association of Corporate Lawyers (BUJ) came together at the DIS Office in Bonn on 26 January 2026 for a session on recent high court rulings, as well for some downtime and networking.
The participants were welcomed by the regional group leader, Tatjana Hammer, and Ramona Schardt. This was followed by a BUJ update from Managing Director Patrick Otto and a DIS presentation from Thomas Klich, Deputy Secretary General of DIS and Deputy Regional Group Leader of the BUJ.
Mathias Wittinghofer (Gowling WLG) then gave a presentation on the Federal Court of Justice's ruling on 9 January 2025 (I ZB 48/24). He answered the question of whether it paves the way for standard terms and conditions to be removed from arbitration agreements.
This exciting presentation was followed by a lively discussion. We were delighted to continue the fruitful exchange after the meeting at a get-together in the DIS Villa. The dialogue between the DIS and corporate lawyers is particularly important for our daily work. We were able to take away many valuable insights and make interesting connections.
We look forward to building on the experience on future occasions.
