DIS40 Zurich: Disputes in Uncertain Times

DIS40-Event

The current global uncertainties have brought unprecedented challenges. The war in the Ukraine, the disruption of the global supply chain and the COVID-19 pandemic are exemplary situations that pose unique and difficult procedural and substantive issues to arbitral tribunals, parties and institutions. For example, sanctions may complicate the representation of a party or the payment of deposits. The war and pandemic can make the service of documents to a party or counsel in certain countries more difficult or impossible. Finally, parties may rely on force majeure – legitimately or not – to release themselves from their obligations under a contract.

Our panel consisting of external and in-house counsels as well as a representative of an arbitral institution will share their experiences and discuss the most relevant challenges they encounter in arbitration proceedings in uncertain times.

The event takes place in Geneva. The discussion will be held in English.
