Richard Happ was re-elected as President of the Council. Cecilia Carrara and Stefan Kröll, former president of the DIS, are the new vice presidents.
In accordance with the term limit, eight of the founding members left the Council after two terms (eight years): Anton Asoskov, Martin Bernet, Alexander Foerster, Luigi Fumagalli, Klaus-A. Gerstenmaier, Anke Meier (Vice President), Klaus Sachs and Erica Stein (Vice President).
They played a key role in establishing the Council's success following the introduction of the DIS Arbitration Rules in 2018. The DIS would like to thank them warmly for their commitment.
With the continuing members James Boykin, Mino Han, Richard Happ, Lars Markert, Anna Masser, Rafał Morek, Rogier Schellaars, Gregory Logothetis, Ana Vermal and Steven Finizio, the newly appointed Arbitration Council of the DIS now includes members from England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA.
Overall, the Council thus reflects a remarkable range of national and international experience and a healthy diversity of perspectives: members from legal practice, corporate positions and academia, as well as arbitrators and party representatives. This mix is a real strength for the DIS and helps to ensure that institutional decisions are shaped by how arbitration actually works in practice – from different perspectives.
We look forward to working with the new Council and to the impetus that its members will bring. At the same time, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the previous members for their great commitment and expertise.
