The Berlin Dispute Resolution Days (BDRD) will return from 28 September to 1 October 2026, bringing the international dispute resolution community back to Berlin for four days of discussion, networking and thought leadership.

The 2026 edition is to be the largest to date, with more than 200 speakers from around the world areexpected to participate, reflecting both the continued growth of the initiative and Berlin’s position as an important international centre for dispute resolution.

Since their inception, the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days have established themselves as a unique platform that brings together leading voices from across the dispute resolution landscape. Practitioners, in-house counsel, academics, judges, government representatives, arbitral institutions and business leaders from around the world convene in Berlin to exchange ideas, discuss current developments and strengthen professional networks.

The Berlin Dispute Resolution Days are jointly organised by the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJV) and Humboldt University of Berlin (HU Berlin). Together, the organisers aim to create a forum that combines practical experience, academic perspectives and policy discussions while showcasing the breadth and diversity of the international dispute resolution community.

Several anchor events have already been confirmed for BDRD 2026, including the:

  • Opening Conference of the BMJV
  • Humboldt Dispute Resolution Conference
  • 8th Karl-Heinz Böckstiegel Lecture
  • DIS Gala Dinner
  • DIS Autumn Conference 2026
  • DIS40 Autumn Conference 2026

In addition to these anchor events, a broad range of side events will be hosted by leading law firms, arbitral institutions, companies and practitioners. More than 60 side events have already been scheduled, underscoring the strong interest from the international dispute resolution community and the growing importance of the BDRD as a global meeting point for arbitration and dispute resolution.

Commenting on the continued growth of the event, Nils Schmidt-Ahrendts, Member of the DIS Board of Directors and the BDRD Organising Committee, said:

Not only the growing number of events, but also the diversity of hosts demonstrates that the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days are becoming a firmly established highlight on the international arbitration calendar. This momentum has inspired us to revamp the website and to bring the Days to a fitting close with a party on Thursday evening — after all, this is Berlin!

A newly launched BDRD website will serve as the central source of information for participants, speakers and event hosts. The website will provide regular updates on the programme, speakers, registration opportunities and side events in the months ahead.

The BDRD 2026 Organising Committee is composed of Niuscha Bassiri, Filippo Furlano, Nadja Harraschain, Franz Kaps, Courtney Lotfi and Nils Schmidt-Ahrendts. They look forward to welcoming colleagues and friends from near and far to Berlin for what promises to be the most extensive and internationally diverse edition of the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days to date.

Side events will continue to be scheduled; those interested in hosting should contact the organizing committee at berlindays(at)no_spamdisarb.org. Participants can stay abreast of developments by checking the website.
