There are numerous ways of promoting settlement in Arbitration. The DIS is one of the very few institutions which has stipulated in Article 26 of its Rules an obligation for arbitrator to "seek to encourage an amicable settlement of the dispute or of individual disputed issues". The techniques how that is done, how the differ from the Arb-Med-Arb process underlying this years' case where the focus of an extensive report by the DIS and will be explored at this events by leading practitioners and contributors to the report.
