DIS@LAW - Germany’s New Power Plant Strategy: Building the Back-Up Grid – and the Next Wave of Energy Disputes?

DIS-Event

Germany needs new back-up capacity – and lots of it. But who will build it, who will pay for it, and can the projects be delivered fast enough to keep pace with the energy transition? As billions are invested in new gas-fired and hydrogen-ready power plants, political ambition will meet economic realities, technical challenges and complex contractual frameworks – fertile ground for disputes: delays and supply chain bottlenecks, change in law and subsidy risk, and the technical uncertainty of hydrogen conversion.

Bringing together client, lawyer and expert perspectives, the panel will examine the strategy through its political, economic, technical and legal lenses. And when disputes arise, the panel will explore how the DIS toolbox – from arbitration and mediation to expert determination and dispute boards – can help parties resolve them efficiently and keep projects on track.
