Registration is now open for this year’s DIS40 Autumn Conference on Wednesday, 11 September 2024. The conference will take place in Berlin as part of the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days.
Watch-out: The DIS40 would like to encourage more in-house counsel to participate, which is why a reduced registration fee of EUR 90 plus VAT will apply for in-house counsel. In addition, the DIS40 will offer 10 scholarships (of EUR 290 plus VAT) to inhouse-counsel to cover their registration fee, travel and/or accommodation costs (details will follow soon).
The topic of this year’s DIS40 Autumn Conference will be “Managing Commercial Disputes: The ADR Toolbox Beyond Arbitration”:
- Navigating complex commercial disputes requires a strategic approach. Join us as we delve into the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) toolbox to explore the potential of negotiation and mediation, both prior to and during arbitration proceedings.
- What are the critical factors for a successful negotiation? What do’s and don’ts should in-house and external counsel be aware of? Can decision trees help to prepare for negotiations? What should arbitral institutions and arbitrators do to encourage out-of-court settlements of disputes?
- Does mediation have an “image problem” in Germany and continental Europe? Which dispute are suitable for mediation, and which are not? What roles do in-house and external counsel play in mediation? How can med-arb clauses work effectively in practice?
- Engage in a dialogue on these and other pertinent issues with distinguished in-house and external counsel, third-party funders, mediators and arbitrators from Germany and abroad.
On Tuesday evening, 10 September 2024, a get-together will take place for which registration is now also open.
Please note that the registration for the get-together is separate from the registration for the DIS40 autumn conference; registration is open only to conference participants. The limited spots for the get-together will be granted on a “first-come-first-served” basis.
