With our next DIS40 Nord event, we would once again like to change perspectives: this time, by bringing together arbitration practitioners and Vis Moot participants to look at the Moot, its Problem and the practice of international arbitration from both sides.
Each year, the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot raises complex and highly practical questions of international commercial and arbitration law. But how do practitioners look at the issues behind the Problem? Which aspects would matter most in a real-life arbitration? And what can the Moot teach us beyond the competition itself?
With “DIS40 meets Vis Moot – Perspectives on the Problem, the Moot & Careers Beyond”, we want to look at this year’s Vis Moot from different perspectives.
Together with our guests, we will discuss selected issues from the current Problem and explore how they may play out in practice, which strategic considerations arise in real proceedings, and where the Moot and arbitration practice differ.
At the same time, we want to look beyond the Problem itself. What role can the Vis Moot play at the beginning of a career in arbitration? Which paths can follow after Vienna? And how can the experience gained through the Moot continue to shape the way we approach disputes and advocacy later on?
The event is aimed not only at DIS40 members. We also particularly invite and encourage current Vis Moot teams, coaches and alumni from across Northern Germany to join this event.
