On 18 June 2025, the event “Arbitrators’ Ways of Work - How German and Spanish Arbitrators Decide Their Cases” was held in Madrid (in hybrid format), organised by DIS, CEIA, and CIAM-CIAR. The aim was to analyse and compare the working methods of German and Spanish arbitrators and, foster an exchange of experiences and best practices between professionals from both countries.

The program included panels on established German practice in civil proceedings, the working methods of German and Spanish arbitrators, and a comparative discussion on similarities and differences. After a warm welcome by Josef Fröhlingsdorf, distinguished experts such as Sonia Gumpert Melgosa, Sebastian Seelmann-Eggebert, Axel Reeg, Luis Capiel, Jesús Pérez de La Cruz Oña, Erik Schäfer, Heidi López Castro, Konstantin Tschöpe, and Deva Villanúa shared their perspectives. Additionally, attendees enjoyed a guided tour of the Palacio de Santoña, CIAM-CIAR’s headquarters, where they learned about the historical and cultural significance of this iconic Madrid landmark.

We would like to thank the speakers and participants whose presence and active engagement made this event possible and enriched the discussion.
