What is your role at the DIS?

My primary duty is Case Administration, but I am gradually taking on some communications work too, especially in English, my native language.

What path led you to the DIS?

Last year I started thinking about changing careers. Someone from my previous professional community, who like me has worked on the fringes of arbitration in the past, heard about my plans and pointed me to the vacancy at DIS at just the right time. I put in an application, had an interview and here we are. I joined the team in May.

What do you particularly appreciate about your work?

It’s heavily administrative and requires a lot of attention to detail, which I love. You need to remain focused and calm even when lots of things (or people) are calling for your attention at the same time.

As a pathological multitasker, this works for me. Plus, after running my own freelance business for most of my career, I am discovering the joys of working closely in the same team over longer periods of time.

What motivates you?

Getting stuff done - and doing it really well.

How would you describe the DIS in three key words?

Professional, responsive, friendly

Tell us a fun fact we should know about you.

Before I joined DIS, I was a freelance conference interpreter for 25 years. Think Nicole Kidman in that movie, minus the weird fluty instrument.
