The Legal Tech Monitor is the largest independent survey of the legal technology market in Germany. For the 2026 edition, the Legal Tech Association and publisher C.H.Beck are inviting lawyers to take part.

This year’s survey addresses a range of topics that directly affect the day-to-day work of lawyers and the management of law firms:

  • Changes to billing models due to the use of AI (from hourly rates to an ‘AI flat rate’)
  • Use of specialised legal AI tools (Harvey, Legora, etc.) versus general-purpose applications (ChatGPT, Claude)
  • Actual adoption of licensed tools within law firms or legal departments
  • Perception of clients’ and competitors’ AI expertise
  • Need for reform regarding the prohibition on third-party ownership, the German Lawyers’ Act (RDG) and other regulations

Participation is completely anonymous and takes around 15–20 minutes, depending on the path chosen. Participants will receive selected results exclusively prior to publication: You can sign up anonymously to our advance distribution list at the end of the survey. The full study will be published at the end of 2026.
