As part of the IAKL European Conference 2025, an informal networking event took place on 13 June 2025 at the Berlin office of the DIS. DIS welcomed 15 participants to the pre-conference event, providing a collegial setting for open exchange and networking.

The following day, the IAKL European Conference 2025 was held at Noerr's Berlin office. The International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL) is a global organisation uniting legal professionals of Korean descent, as well as those engaged in Korea-related legal matters. Through its regional and international initiatives, IAKL fosters dialogue, knowledge exchange, and cross-border collaboration within the global legal community.

The programme commenced with opening remarks by Torsten Kraul and John Jun (both at Noerr), followed by congratulatory remarks by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Germany, Sang Beom Lim. IAKL Overseas Presidents Philip Cho and Pillkyu Hwang introduced the organisation’s mission and global reach.

The presentations covered various legal topics, including business acquisitions in Germany (Till Kosche and Sarah Blazek), EU tech regulation and ethics (Habbine Estelle Kim), private credit enforcement (Kunhee Cho), Poland’s construction sector (Soo Youn Kim), and responsible AI policies (Mateusz Chmielewski and Se-Jeoung Kim).

DIS, which sponsored the conference, was represented by Chun-Kyung Paulus Suh, Kseniia Stepanova and Ivan Petrov. Ivan presented the Dispute Resolution Services of the DIS in general, focusing on mediation in particular. The conference offered opportunities for professional exchange in the field of international dispute settlement and in particular arbitration and mediation as tools suitable for German (or broader European)-Korean business relations.

The conference, which closed with final remarks and a conference dinner, underscored the value of continued international engagement and collaboration across legal systems and jurisdictions.
