The South Eastern Europe Arbitration Conference (SEEA 2025) lit up Athens on 28 November 2025, bringing more insight into the SEE region.
The conference theme, “Navigating Arbitration Frontiers in SEE: AI, Energy, Investment & Technology Disputes,” showed how dynamic and complex the region’s arbitration landscape has become.
From an institutional perspective, the panel “AI in Arbitration: Navigating Ethical Challenges and Ensuring Fairness” was noteworthy. Under the spot-on moderation of Milena Djordjevic, the panel brought together practitioners from across the SEE region and beyond, including: Rouven F. Bodenheimer (DIS), Stevan Dimitrijević (Dimitrijević & Partners), Nicolás Gálvez Solís (ICC), Agis Georgiades (Christos Georgiades & Associates), George Lambrou (Keystone Law), Dominik Liška (BHH), and Nicholas Tse (Alem & Partners).
The growing importance of institutions in establishing transparent standards for the responsible use of AI was one of the topics addressed. This added an institutional perspective to the discussion, which is often dominated by practical experience, allowing the topic to be viewed from a broader angle.
Events like SEEA 2025 continue to demonstrate the value of open, cross-regional dialogue in developing arbitration practice. Athens provided a vibrant setting.
